10 Steps to An Awesome Website
1 - ConsultationContact Us to schedule a FREE 30 minutes Consultation.
During your consultation, we will discuss the mission and goals of your business and what you would like to achieve with your new website (or your web site re-design) and how we can help you succeed.
Please note, we are a small, dedicated web design boutique, giving our full attention to our clients, and with a busy schedule, we are not always able to provide every prospective client a complimentary 30 minutes consultation (phone or in person). At the minimum, however, we will provide an email reply or email consultation.
For serious inquiries, and those who are ready to rock and roll and to get started, please review our web site, including Our Creative Process on this page, the Are We a Good Fit? page, and the FAQs page, and if you think we will make for a good work match, and you have the appropriate budget for what you want, let's schedule a chat and take it from there. We look forward to hearing from you.
For local clients, in person consultation and meetings can be scheduled upon request.
2 - Get Started Questionnaire
After determining that your project is viable, and that we make for a good fit, including that we know what you want and can deliver what you want, and you have an appropriate budget for what you want, you will be emailed our comprehensive Get Started Questionnaires.
Your response and feedback to our Get Started Questionnaires will be the foundation for a successful and effective web site for your business. The more thorough and clear you are in communicating and sharing your website goals in these Questionnaires, the better and more effectively and efficiently we can serve you, and deliver what you want.
3 - Custom QuoteYour response to our Get Started questionnaires (your Blueprint to a successful web site) will form the basis of a more thorough and thoughtful consultation, as well as aid us in putting together an accurate proposal and project fee, including a timeline, for your review and approval.
4 - Proposal & ContractThe proposal & contract will list everything that will go into your web site project, including the estimated project start and completion dates, as well as the project fee.
Upon acceptance of the proposal, we will both sign a standard web site design contract before beginning work on the project.
80% of the total project fee will be collected at this time. The remaining 20% is collected upon project completion.
We do our best to accurately estimate how long a project will take to complete, where it's not too short where we both feel pressed and stressed for time, and not too long where we lose focus and momentum.
Depending on the size, scope, and complexity of your project, be prepared to allocate between 4-8 weeks (at the minimum) of dedicated time and attention for your project. Larger, more complex projects take more time than smaller, less complex projects.
Building a successful website is a collaborative effort, and prompt, clear, responsive, and thorough client replies and feedback is expected, as well as dedicated time, focus, and attention on your part. This will ensure forward movement, momentum, and completion of your project in a timely manner and within the designated time-frame.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
5 - Pre-Design Phase - Logos & BrandingPrior to any design & development work, your web site logo must be designed and forwarded to us. Also, any branding materials you may have must be forwarded to us. This ensures that your web site design will complement and match your logo design and branding.
We must be able to edit the graphics, if necessary, without loss of resolution and graphic quality, so please forward your logo and branding files in editable graphic or vector files, such as in Photoshop (.psd), Fireworks (.png), Illustrator (.ai) formats.
If you don't have a logo or would like to design a new one, let us know, and we can design one for you.
6 - Site Design & Development + Site ContentOn average, and at the minimum, between 4-8 weeks is allocated for the design & development of your web site, depending on the size, scope, and complexity of your project.
Client must provide all site content, including text, copywriting, audios, videos, logos, and any additional graphics desired, and within the agreed upon, designated time-frame. (If you would like help in picking and choosing photos for your site, let us know.)
All content must be the final (or near final) versions to keep editing & revisions to a minimum. You will receive up to 2 revision requests. Excessive editing & revisions takes more time on our part and will incur an additional fee.
The more organized and focused you are, the faster you can forward your site's content to us, the easier and faster we can get your web site completed and up and running.
Please start putting together your web site's content BEFORE, or at the same time, we are designing your website, and make sure to set aside dedicated time, attention, and focus to forward us your site's content and to provide us prompt and clear feedback.
7 - Proofreading, Testing & TweakingPrior to the official launch of your site, please review and proofread your entire web site, double-check for any typos, make sure there are no spelling or grammatical errors, test and tweak to make sure that all links are going to the right places, contact forms and shopping carts are in working order, etc.
Your participation during this step will be expected and appreciated. For a thorough proofread and to prevent tired and crossed-eyes, the more eyes the better, so it's fine and a good idea to ask your friends and family to help out. (-:
Please note, we do NOT provide unlimited revisions or edits (which can become endless and drag on indefinitely). Time is money, and our time is precious, just like yours. Unless it is an error on our part, which we will fix, we will provide a reasonable and fixed amount of edits during this proofreading and editing phase.
Additional and excessive edits or changes to your site will take more time and require an additional work order and an additional fee.
8 - Site LaunchYoohoo! All our hard work has paid off. Get ready for your site's official launch! ツ
All the web pages are completed now and ready for an official launch.
Great job! We did it! Congratulations and Thank YOU for your collaborative effort, hard work, feedback, focus, and precious time!
Note: The final payment of 20% of the total project fee is collected at this time and prior to uploading all the new pages to your hosting server or forwarding your site's username and password.
9 - Promotion & MarketingNow that your web site is up and running, on-going, consistent marketing and promotional efforts on your part are imperative and essential to bringing in targeted traffic and to reaching your business and income goals.
Don't let your web site collect cyberdust and just let it sit there. Your web site is a powerful vehicle for you to leverage your business, time, money, and manpower, so make the most of it.
Just like a car, which needs to have fuel to run and go places, and maintenance to keep it running smoothly, and taking you places, a Ferrari of a web site won't go anywhere far or fast if it just sits there getting dusty and rusty.
Google Adwords, Pay-Per-Clicks, inbound linking, social media, and joint ventures are some excellent strategies to begin with. Also, a combination of free, paid, online and offline strategies are best and recommended.
Also, keep in mind that a positive attitude and positive mindset will go a long way, too! Believe in yourself and what you have to offer. Get out there, network, give people your business cards, do whatever it takes to grow your business and let people know about your business and web site.
Also, being clear on exactly what your personal and business goals are (short, mid, and long term), having an action plan, and taking consistent and inspired actions toward achieving your plans and goals will speed things up, and exponentially increase your chances of success.
10 - Site Maintenance & UpdatesDon't let your site stagnate and collect cyber dust or become boring and uninteresting.
Give your visitors, customers, and subscribers reasons to come back to your site over and over again by adding fresh, new content on a regular and on-going basis.
You can maintain your web site yourself, or hire us to do it for you, or a combination of both (where we can take care of the more high techy, time consuming stuff for you, and you can take care of the faster, easier kind of edits yourself.)
If your site requires regular (daily, weekly, monthly) updating, we offer web site maintenance and update services.
